Introduction

The Graduate Unit at Applied College is dedicated to proactive engagement with all alumni and ensuring continuous follow-up on their progress. This is achieved by establishing an interactive database containing information about graduates, including their majors, academic achievements, and current employment jobs, to determine the extent to which their majors and jobs are consistent with the labor market.The unit also  strives to receive suggestions and evaluations about the scientific programs studied for both courses and courses, the faculty members' efficiency, and the graduate's actual training programs. Thus, full coordination with the college administration, including the specialized departments for development and quality procedures, as this procedure is an important element within the elements and requirements of evaluation and academic accreditation in the college's programs.

Furthermore, the unit also seeks to qualify graduates in preparation for their entry into the labor market by providing sufficient data on expected opportunities and employers. It assists graduates in employment and allows them to register through the national labor portal “Taqaat.” The unit also uses the training courses and e-workshops available in the e-training portal "Drop."

Thus, the Alumni Unit is one of the elements of strengthening the link between the Applied College at Northern Borders University and its graduates and working to actively involve them in all activities of the college through which communication with the external community is carried out, and this activity pushes graduates towards a sense of belonging to the college, university, and society to reduce unemployment issues by helping graduates find real and possible job opportunities.

In addition to monitoring graduates' progress, the unit endeavors to equip them with the necessary skills and information to succeed in the labor market. This includes providing insights into potential job opportunities and employers, assisting graduates in their job search, and facilitating their registration on the national labor portal "Taqaat." Moreover, the unit leverages training courses and e-workshops available on the e-training portal "Drop" to further enhance graduates' capabilities.

Overall, the Alumni Unit plays a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between Applied College and its graduates. By actively involving them in college activities and facilitating their integration into the external community, the unit instills a sense of belonging among graduates to the college, university, and society at large. Through these efforts, the unit aims to mitigate unemployment challenges by empowering graduates to secure meaningful employment opportunities.

Objectives 

The Graduate Unit at the Applied College at Northern Border University strives to achieve the following objectives:

  • Fostering a sense of loyalty among graduates towards the college, the university, and the community.

  • Enhancing communication between graduates, the college, and employers. 

  • Providing immediate and future counseling for graduates regarding career planning and preparing them for employment before and after graduation.

  • Activating and increasing communication with graduates by organizing meetings and events, holding awareness, educational, and cultural seminars, and inviting community members to participate in them.

  • Measuring the satisfaction of the college graduates with the level of education, training, and courses, and evaluating the performance of the faculty members.

  • Measuring the satisfaction of the employers of college graduates in the public and private sectors.

  • Designing and creating an integrated information base for all graduates of the Applied College in cooperation and coordination with the Deanships of Student Affairs, Admission, and Registration through the unified portal for Northern Borders University graduates.

  • Preparing vital and statistical reports on graduates, their gender, contact data, employers, and job specialization to be submitted to the university's senior management for the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.

  • Adding a web page on the website of the Applied College for the Graduates Unit that includes vital statistics and data, links and publishing the data of employers, links to meetings and opinion measurement questionnaires, and preparing digital reports and bulletins on the college website that include the news of the unit regularly.

  • Identifying the most important difficulties felt by graduates, as well as providing suggestions through them in a digital form.

  • Working on the participation of graduates in preparing the graduation ceremony for current students regularly.

     

Duties and Responsibilities 

1- Accessing the database of graduates available from the university through the Deanship of Student Affairs to prepare vital reports on graduates.

2- Designing and creating a comprehensive database of institutions, companies, and entities related to graduates and the local labor market.

3- Working on continuous training through training courses, workshops, and various programs to raise the skills of graduates and provide them with the necessary and continuous knowledge.

4- Maintaining continuous communication with graduates through multiple means of communication (Groups - College website - e-mails - social media), and others to participate in all events.

5- Inviting graduates to participate in various meetings and graduation ceremonies for new students.

6- Measuring the opinion of graduates about courses, faculty members, employers, and others through various electronic measurement tools (questionnaires - surveys).

7- Providing various vital statistics to the Vice President for Academic Affairs to contribute to future planning and performance evaluation for different scientific specializations.

8- Preparing reports and statistics on students expected to graduate.

9- Participating in the preparation of vital reports for the college.

10- Creating an electronic page for the unit on the website of the Applied College.

11- Coordinating with the Deanship of Student Affairs to invite graduates to events and events, as well as sending various questionnaires.

12- Informing graduates periodically about the needs of the labor market and the local community for jobs suitable for their specialties in coordination with the employers.

13- Forming groups and associations for graduates at the Applied College (general and specialized) from the activation of inter-communication between graduates, exchange of opinion and advice, as well as with the applied college at the university.

14- Continuous utilization of the expertise of graduates according to their jobs and professional experience in lectures and scientific discussions to improve educational services and develop qualified cadres for the labor market.

15- Providing all the data related to organizing the relationship between graduates and the labor laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

16- Organizing the Graduates Day at the Applied College and organizing its activities.
