Introduction:

In accordance with the Human Capability Development Program, which is one of the most prominent programs of the kingdom’s Vision 2030, the Professional Certifications Unit at the Applied College of Northern Border University is committed to enhancing and developing the skills of its male and female students to prepare them to meet the requirements of the future and capitalize on opportunities arising from local and national needs.

To achieve this objective, the unit focuses on offering locally and internationally accredited professional certificates. These certificates ensure that individuals are equipped with skills aligned with the demands of the modern job market. Additionally, the unit identifies the professional certificates needed in the job market, links them to academic courses and training programs, and collaborates with certificate-granting authorities to accredit the college and its programs.

The unit also strives to provide comprehensive information to those interested in professional certificates. This includes details on registration procedures, training processes, examinations, and obtaining the professional certificate. Furthermore, the unit clarifies the key fields required in the job market and the available certificates in each field, along with their application requirements.

Objectives: 

The Professional Certifications Unit at the Applied College at the University of Northern Border aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Providing accredited professional certificates.

  • Equipping college students with the necessary skills and knowledge.

  • Enhancing their professional capabilities and empower them to enter the job market with confidence.

  • Strengthening students’ personal development and improve the quality and skills of graduates.

  • Bridging the gap between educational outcomes and the needs of the job market.

  • Contributing to achieving sustainable development goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing the necessary policies and procedures for selecting and updating professional certificates and exams at the Applied College.

  2. Identifying the professional certificates required in the Saudi job market.

  3. Supervising the professional certification exams at the college.

  4. Coordinating with the Programs Unit, Training Unit, and Registration Unit for various programs and courses.

  5. Ensuring that each academic program or training course is linked to a professional certificate in the same field.

  6. Verifying that all students obtain the professional certificate associated with their specialization.

  7. Regularly reviewing professional certificates for development and ensure their alignment with the job market.

  8. Supporting partnerships with professional certification and testing providers.

  9. Designing electronic records for storing data and statistics related to professional certificates and exams.

  10. Performing any other tasks or responsibilities within the scope of expertise as assigned by the Executive President of the Applied College and the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
