The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision for 2030 aims to enhance, advance, and support educational institutions across all levels, along with offering student services that foster and inspire complete success in their studies. Before the college was transformed into an "Applied College," which was previously known as a "Community College," it was founded in Arar city in the academic year 1423/1424 AH (2002), specifically for female students. Operated under the Ministry of Education, the college initially included one academic department—the computer department—offering diploma certifications in the field.

With a Royal Decree in 1427-1428 AH (2007), the 'Community College' became affiliated with the Northern Borders University. This transition led to integrating programs and enhancing study plans in collaboration with the university. We expanded our reach by opening two additional branches in Rafha and Turaif. The College awarded students an Associate Diploma after completing 78 credit units. To better align with the Kingdom's developmental needs and labor market demands, the University President, in 1442/1443 AH (2021), renamed the 'Community College' to the 'Applied College. 'This transformation also expanded our educational and training programs, ensuring we meet the diverse needs of our students and the Kingdom's labor market.

Based on the University Affairs Council Decision No. 1442/4/9, this decision includes the Arar, Rafha, and Turaif community colleges. The new 'Applied College' would offer educational and training programs that are more in tune with the needs of the Kingdom's labor market.

As part of our commitment to the Kingdom's Vision 2030, Northern Borders University has established essential committees to support this transformation and guarantee the project's sustained success as approved by the Ministry. This includes expanding the foundation of scientific disciplines that support the university's vision and mission and ensuring the production of skilled individuals prepared to fulfill the labor market requirements in the Kingdom. The 'Applied College' is not just a name change, but a commitment to develop and promote a fresh vision and mission through all its initiatives, aligning with the university's strategic plan for 2025 and supporting the Kingdom's development objectives and Vision 2030. We are dedicated to equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the Kingdom's evolving labor market.
